Scholarships

 

 

 

 

ALET awards the $10,000 college scholarship each year in honor of Debbie Rice, a long-time leader in the organization who served as Technology Director for Auburn City Schools until 2014.  Applicants must be current students in an Alabama school district whose technology director is/was a member of ALET as of September 30, 2026. (A drop-down list of those eligible school districts is shown on the application.)

 

A $5,000 college scholarship is awarded annually to the child of an ALET member. High school seniors and current college students are eligible.  A parent must have been a member as of September 30, 2026, to be eligible to apply.

• High school students wishing to be considered for the ALET Member Scholarship should check the box that a parent meets the ALET member requirement. 
  
  

• Individuals are not eligible for more than one ALET scholarship. Past winners of either scholarship should not re-apply.
  
  
• If a student whose parent is a member of ALET wins the Debbie Rice Memorial Scholarship, they will no longer be eligible for the ALET Member Scholarship as well. 
  
  
• Winner of the Debbie Rice Memorial Scholarship is competitive based on our scoring rubric.
  
  
• Winner of the ALET Member Scholarship will be determined by a random drawing of all high school and college students meeting the requirements. Only one scholarship will be awarded.  A student may not win both the DRMS and AMS.
